Before this program I would avoid public places, especially during the day and only do shopping after midnight and before 6 a.m. And never alone. Because of this program with Soldier’s Best Friend, I have a battle buddy that will go anywhere with me. We have grown so much and now we are an effective team. She watches out for me and I watch out for her.
Thank you all so much for letting me be a part of SBF.

Soldier’s Best Friend provides U.S. military veterans living with combat-related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) with Service or Therapeutic Companion Dogs, most of which are rescued from local shelters. The veteran and dog train together to build a trusting relationship that saves two lives at once and inspires countless others.
To help our war heroes improve in their symptoms of PTSD, adjust back into civilian life, lead a more productive life and help them build self esteem. We also want to help the pet overpopulation problem by helping place shelter or rescue dogs into good homes.
Soldier’s Best Friend has been selected as the sole beneficiary of the Swift Charities Fourth Annual 5K Fun Run & 2.5K Walk on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 9:00 am at Rio Vista Park in Peoria. Swift Charities is the charitable arm of Swift Transportation. The Race & Walk are open to all, and this year’s theme is Super Heroes so adult, children, and pet costumes are encouraged!
