Emilio Driscoll

Emilio was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. In November 2007, he joined the Army and served as a 12B (Combat Engineer) with the 1st Cavalry Division 4 BCT in Fort Hood, TX. He completed two tours, one in Iraq and one in Afghanistan, where he was tasked with finding IEDs, roadside bombs, and sweeping fields for other types of explosives. He received numerous awards, including Army Commendation Medals, a Combat Action Badge, and a Meritorious Unit Commendation.

After being honorably discharged in 2017, Emilio utilized his G.I. Bill to attend college, becoming a first-generation graduate. While at Rio Hondo Community College, he worked at the Vet Center, assisting veterans with educational benefits and college goals. He also lobbied for veteran funding within California Community Colleges at the State Capitol in Sacramento with Assembly Member Randy Voepel.
Emilio then attended the University of Arizona, majoring in History and minoring in Sociology. During his time there, he worked at the Tucson Vet Center, helping veterans navigate their benefits, apply for medical and educational benefits, and understand the various VA programs available.

After college, Emilio worked at U.S. Veterans Initiative (U.S. Vets) as a Case Manager II, assisting homeless veterans with housing, employment, mental health support, substance support, obtaining military documents, and advocating for VA benefits. Additionally, he serves his community as a substitute teacher and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

In his spare time, Emilio enjoys playing chess, solving puzzles, and building models. Among all the titles he has held in his life and career, "veteran" is the one he cherishes the most. His attention to detail brought him home safely and fueled his passion for helping veterans.
