“Dogs come into our lives to teach us about love… “Petting, scratching, and cuddling a dog could be soothing to the mind and heart as deep meditation and almost as good for the soul as prayer.”  Dean Koontz

My venture with Soldier’s Best Friend began with a recommendation of a friend. After meeting the qualifications and meeting with Leslie Bryant, the Trainer, I was notified I was accepted. Then my training commenced. The first goal was for me to learn how to teach my dog to focus on me even in the face of distractions. Focusing is the main building block of the program. Another main stay of the training is obedience it is vital to a well trained service dog. Lastly, but extremely important are the tasks: posting, cover, retrieving, and comfort tactics.

The tasks my dog has learned has helped me with nightmares, anxiety, and loud bangs or noises, because of this I can feel safe again. I can even go out into the community and the mall, as long as I have my dog. It has made a world of difference.

This difference would not have been possible without the help of Leslie Bryant, my trainer and Soldier’s Best Friend. She is knowledgeable, patient, and willing to work with you until you get it right. She’s brilliant!

Soldier’s Best Friend is such a worthwhile program. I can’t say enough about it. It teaches you and your dog to be amazing team. “My dog will always leave paw prints on my heart.”
