Dennis & Harley
Because of Harley and Soldiers Best Friend I’m able to leave my house and go places again without fear. I know with 100% conference Harley will always have my back, she knows when I’m going to have a panic or anxiety attack or if a migraine is coming minutes before so I can go to a quiet place. I don’t fear the unknown or public places like I used to, I know she’s there 24/7 when I need her even at night she wakes me from night terrors sometimes before they happen.
The training we received here at SOB is amazing the instructors know what they’re doing and they teach in ways everyone can understand even those of us with TBI’s. They have an amazing ability to see what’s going on with the Veteran or the dog and help with compassion and the sensitivity need to solve the problem.
Soldiers Best Friend is a great resource for veterans in need and the best part is if you need a dog they will find you the perfect dog that you didn’t know you needed and most of the time the dogs are rescued from a shelter so they give them a second chance at a good life and saving a veterans life at the same time.
I was in Cal-Ranch one day over the summer and it was crowded and becoming more crowded quickly. Harley picked up on my stress and alerted but I thought I could suck it up as I didn’t want to call attention to myself so I ignored it. She alerted again and the 3rd time she got forceful and took my sleeve and pulled. I listened and went in a quiet place in the store got on the ground and she got on me and did DPT. When it was all over I was so happy I listened because she was able to calm me and put me back in a good place. At that moment I knew I can’t be without her she is essential for my wellbeing.
II can’t thank SOB enough and my instructor Leslie for doing what they do, I hope they realize they save so many veterans lives by doing this.
Finally Leslie, I don’t know how to express my gratitude to her. She is amazing she knows how to help veterans how to talk to us because she is one of us and that make all the difference. I’ve learned so much and I’m am so grateful and proud to be part of the SOB family.
