Katie Ares is the Executive Director of Soldier’s Best Friend. With over a decade of nonprofit experience, Katie has held roles in direct service provision, community outreach, grants management, and public policy. As a military spouse and daughter of a Vietnam veteran, Katie has a deep appreciation for the honor and commitment of our service members and their loved ones.
In addition to her background in nonprofit programming and administration, Katie is a survivor/advocate and public speaker who has seen first-hand, the positive impact that animals have on the lives of people living with Post-Traumatic Stress. Katie was honored during National Crime Victims’ Rights Week as the 2019 Triumph Over Tragedy Award recipient by the Arizona Governor’s Office. Katie holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Public Administration from Webster University.
In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dogs exploring Arizona while hiking, yurt camping, and overlanding.
