Carla is the Development Manager at Soldier’s Best Friend. With more than 30 years of executive leadership experience, Carla has directed programs, served as an executive director, grant writer, and individual and major gifts officer. Carla has a Bachelor of Science from Grand Canyon University, and a Master of Counseling from Arizona State University. She holds a non-profit management certificate from ASU Lodestar Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Innovation.
Having two brothers who served reinforced Carla’s support of active-duty military and veterans. She is a dog lover and has worked in rescue organizations raising funds and awareness. She and her husband, Jim, love big dogs (you shouldn’t have to bend down to pet your dog) and are owned by three rescue dogs: two English Mastiffs and one very sassy St. Bernard. They have fostered more than 20 giant-breed dogs and currently foster for the Big Mutt Network. “I am so honored to be able to help Soldier’s Best Friend with their mission to serve veterans and save dogs,” Carla states.
When not at work Carla is socializing dogs and cleaning up slobber. She and Jim love the Blues and support local Blues artists throughout Arizona.
